Done deal! QPR goalkeeper Green signs new contract

first_imgQueens Park Rangers goalkeeper Rob Green has signed a new two-year deal at Loftus Road. The 34-year-old helped the Hoops earn promotion back to the Premier League last season and has now put pen to paper on a new contract until the summer of 2016.Green, who was voted man of the match in QPR’s Championship play-off final victory against Derby County in late May, told the club’s official website: “I’m really pleased to have signed the contract.“The first thing on my mind, after relaxing and enjoying winning promotion, was to get my future sorted, so I’m delighted we’ve managed to get everything done ahead of pre-season.”He added: “I had a nice break after the long season. I feel refreshed and recharged and I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”Green, who has 12 England caps, has endured a mixed time since moving to the Hoops in 2012 from West Ham but having made the number one jersey his own last season, he is relishing a return to the Premier League.“At the start of last season all I was focused on was playing football – thankfully that happened and we got promoted at the end of it all.“This season is very much the same. I want to play week in, week out. We want to aim high, but we won’t get carried away. We learnt a lot of lessons last time, so we will keep our targets in-house and be fully focused on the season ahead.“We can’t underestimate the difficulties of the Premier League.” 1 QPR goalkeeper Rob Green last_img read more
