BYU Athletics Announces All Events on Campus Closed To The Public

first_img Brad James FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailPROVO, Utah-In a statement made Thursday morning by the Brigham Young University athletics department, effective immediately, all sporting events on campus will be closed to the public.The statement further confirms “only participants, coaches and essential staff will be allowed to attend.”BYU Athletics will provide updates as more information becomes available.For the time being, BYU baseball is still expected to play Loyola Marymount Thursday at 6:00 pm at Miller Park.This was substantiated by ESPN 960 AM reporter Taylor Anne Decker, albeit with no fans in attendance. However, Decker also confirmed that the BYU softball team, slated to play at a tournament in Tuscaloosa, Ala., this week, was flying home, per reports.Until further notice, this affects the annual Utah High School Activities Association track and field state championship meet.This year’s meet, slated for May 14-16 at BYU’s Robison Track, annually features all state high school track and field schools in the Beehive State, and is now in danger of cancellation.Furthermore, a football camp featuring Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, slated for March 13 on campus, has been canceled.
